ERC Research Group Leader at Institute of Innate Immunity Biomedical Center, University of Bonn, Germany. I am a scientist and my main research focus is the role of innate immunity in the pathogenesis of infectious diseases. My research has contributed to identify the main triggers of inflammation in malaria and the development of a new therapeutic strategy based on the modulation of nucleic acid detection by the innate immune system. I am now focusing on the role of the inflammasomes in systemic inflammation and inflammatory diseases.
